Application Process

Make sure to upload a sketch of your proposed concept art, the committee cannot select you as a participant without seeing your concept art first.  Applications without concept art will be delayed in processing.  If you are unable to upload your concept art or encounter an error during the application process please call 727-447-7600 for alternative options to send your art.

3) Scan or take a photo of your concept art.
4) Use this link to send your application.  Be sure to attach your concept art.

Selections Process

All applications, including the artist’s proposed concept, must first be reviewed for approval by a subcommittee of the Chalk Art Festival.
The first 35 chalk artists that meet the criteria of the selection subcommittee will be notified that they have been selected to participate in the Festival no later than October 1st, 2017.

If accommodations are needed, you must indicate on your application.

We encourage all artists to participate.  Whether you're an amateur, a professional, a student or somewhere in between this Chalk Art Festival is about having fun and making art come to life! 

 

Exhibition Rules
All artwork must be appropriate for public viewing by all ages.  No words or symbols used as advertising or political propaganda may be incorporated into your image.  You are encouraged to sign your artwork in the bottom of your image.  The event organizers reserve the right to take and use photographs for marketing and publicity purposes.  You are encouraged to bring your own shade and chair, but please limit chairs to a max of two per site.

Materials
All artists must supply their own materials. Pastel chalks are the medium. No gesso, acrylics or liquid pastes. Diluted tempera1 must be used as your base.
1Please note that all artists MUST apply tempera to their work area prior to starting work.  For artists traveling from out of state, basic colors (White/Black/Blue) will be available upon request.

Artist Promotion

Artists participating in the Clearwater Beach Chalk Art Festival may use the Festival logo only in their own promotion materials and communications involving their participation in the Festival.
